At 24 years of age, Kentucky Mountain Horse, Brandy was brought to Michigan from Kentucky where she had spent her entire life. She had been a brood mare for many years, and was due to retire. But she didn't know about the long Michigan winters.
Her new owner, Danita Larson, could see that she was suffering from severe joint pain in her knees. When she stood still she put all her weight on her left front leg and rested the right one.
